Stay Strong, Active &
Independent

The Approach

In-Home Personal Training
for Seniors

Staying strong and active helps you keep doing the things that matter to you—walking around your neighborhood, gardening, traveling, or spending time with your grandkids. Whether you already exercise or want to get started again, your training should reflect your goals, current abilities, and the way you want to live.

I provide in-home personal training for older adults in Portland, with sessions focused on strength, balance, mobility, and everyday movement. We’ll work at a pace that challenges you appropriately, with clear guidance and exercises adapted to your needs. You don’t need a gym membership or previous experience—just a starting point and a plan to build from.

Training That
Fits Your Life

Your goals might include feeling steadier on your feet, getting stronger, or having more stamina for the activities you enjoy. We’ll build your program around what matters most to you and adjust it as you progress.

Sessions combine strength exercises, balance practice, mobility work, and conditioning based on your needs. Every exercise has a purpose, whether that’s making stairs more manageable, improving your ability to carry groceries, or helping you feel more confident moving around your home.

Aging & Movement

Staying Capable
as You Age

Changes in strength, mobility, and endurance can happen gradually. You might notice that familiar activities take more effort or that you’ve started avoiding certain movements. Some common challenges include:

Less strength: Getting out of a low chair, carrying bags, or climbing stairs may feel harder than it used to.

Reduced mobility: Stiffness can make bending, reaching, and moving comfortably more difficult.

Feeling unsteady: Uneven ground, steps, and changes in direction may require more attention.

Lower endurance: Walks, household tasks, or outings may leave you needing more frequent breaks.

These changes help us identify where to focus your training. We’ll start with movements you can manage and gradually build your strength, control, and stamina.

Everyday Movement

Build Strength
for the Things You Enjoy

Training becomes more meaningful when you can connect it to your everyday life. Your sessions will include movements that support both your daily responsibilities and the activities you want to keep enjoying.

Getting up and down: Build leg strength for standing from chairs, using stairs, and getting in and out of the car.

Carrying and lifting: Strengthen your upper body and grip for groceries, household items, and yardwork.

Walking and stepping: Practice controlled steps and changes in direction to support more confident movement.

Bending and reaching: Work on the mobility and control needed for dressing, gardening, and reaching shelves.

Keeping up with activities: Build stamina for longer walks, family outings, and time spent on your feet.

How I Work

My Approach to
Senior Fitness

I take time to understand your goals, exercise history, and limitations before building your program. Here’s what you can expect:

Start Where You Are

We’ll begin with your current abilities and movements you feel comfortable performing. I’ll look at how you move, discuss what feels challenging, and use that information to choose an appropriate starting point.

Build Useful Strength

Your workouts will strengthen the muscles you rely on for everyday activities. Exercises and resistance are selected for your ability, with an emphasis on controlled movement, good technique, and gradual progress.

Practice Balance & Mobility

We’ll include exercises that challenge your balance appropriately and help you move more comfortably. Support is available when needed, and movements can be adapted to seated or standing positions.

Progress with Guidance

As exercises become more manageable, we’ll adjust the challenge to keep you progressing. I’ll guide your technique, monitor how you’re responding, and adapt each session to your energy and comfort that day.

Training with
Care & Confidence

You don’t need to be fit before you begin. We’ll start at your level and adjust each exercise to your abilities, comfort, and any health considerations. With clear guidance and gradual progress, we’ll work toward building strength and confidence at a pace that suits you.

Keep Moving Forward

Stay Active.
Keep Doing What You Love.

Whether you want to enjoy longer walks, keep up with your grandkids, or feel more capable at home, your training will support those goals. With regular sessions and personal guidance, we’ll build a routine that helps you stay consistent and recognize your progress along the way.
