Recover From a Car Accident with Evolve Performance Healthcare
As a fitness professional, it’s important to have the right network of colleagues to be able to refer clients to for special treatments. Evolve Performance Healthcare is a chiropractic and therapeutic fitness center in Ne Portland that will work with your insurance company following an accident for no out of pocket fee, something at the moment I do not offer.
Whiplash and other injuries sustained in a car accident can be a major headache (no pun intended) for active individuals who have fitness and other outdoor/adventure goals. Untreated injuries often linger for weeks, months, or years – affecting your ability to train, work, and perform at your best. Chiropractic care combined with a proper rehabilitation plan has been shown to be the most effective treatment for spine pain following a car accident. The adjustments and soft tissue work help decrease pain and improve healing while the rehabilitation plan works to strengthen and stabilize the injured tissues.
Best Part? No Out of Pocket Cost in the State of Oregon
A lot of people delay getting necessary care following an accident due to a fear of the cost. Many aren’t aware that they are covered for injuries sustained in a car accident (up to $15,000). In the state of Oregon, all auto insurance policies are required to include PIP (Personal Injury Protection) Insurance. PIP coverage covers 100% of your medical expenses following an accident (usually up to $15,000). It even counts if you’re a cyclist or pedestrian. In November of 2014, I was rear-ended while sitting at a red light. The impact felt substantial but there weren’t any immediate signs of injury. It wasn’t until a few days later when I went to pick something up when my back completely gave out. From this point forward it was as if the floodgates had opened, and my back hasn’t been the same since.
I wasn’t completely sure what was going on, but with years of experience as a personal trainer I had a good idea. I was having nerve pain in the heel of my right foot, so I was suspicious that it had something to do with a bulging or herniated disc pressing on the sciatic nerve in my lower back. I saw multiple doctors and physical therapist who all had slightly different opinions on what was going on, and completely different methods of going about healing the injury. This made the road to recovery much longer than needed. Some of the prescribed exercises given to me made it worse, and some seemed to help, but it was hard to tell which was which. It wasn’t until I got an MRI that I knew exactly what was going on, my L4, L5 disc was bulging and pressing on the static nerve in my back. At that point, I applied the exercises that had been given to me that worked, along with some that I came across in my own research and worked them into a routine that had more success in reversing the issue.
I wish 3 years ago that I had found a clinic like Evolve Performance Healthcare to guide me through the path of healing. Carl Baird’s approach encompasses all the aspects in what I found successful in healing my back. The only thing my routine was missing was chiropractic. Today my back is not 100 percent. I’m not sure it ever will be, but I wonder if I had been given the right treatment, to begin with, would the outcome be different.
